    Pike's Stockade

    About 45 mi (72 km) southwest of Fort Garland lies Pike's Stockade, a stockade reconstructed from the notebooks of Zebulon Pike, who camped along the Conejos River with his men from 1806 to 1807. Admission to the stockade is free and open to the public from Memorial Day until early fall.

    Fort Garland Museum

    Visitors are invited to tour the historic fort where Kit Carson garrisoned with 100 men to protect the early settlers of the San Luis Valley. The grounds feature adobe buildings, a recreation of the commandant's quarters and more.

    Hazard House Museum

    The Hazard House Museum is an historic home decorated in the manner of the wealthy households of the area from the 1920s and 30s. Items display include a Steinway piano, oriental rugs, bone china dinnerware, fine linens and even a Christmas tree display.
